My hope is to facilitate thought and discussion among Christians on topics that we would much rather ignore but which are vital to our future as Christians, and as Americans.

"For Whom the Bell Tolls"

Do American Christians have any responsibility for our nation having come to this place of political chaos and deep-reaching cultural change? If so, what would God have us do now?

In his inaugural address of April 30, 1789, President George Washington said that, “the propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right, which Heaven itself has ordained.” Did he understand something that our current leaders don't?

A Proposed Response to the SCOTUS Ruling
of June 26, 2015 on What is Called "Gay Marriage”
An article proposing a Biblical response to the U.S. Supreme Court ruling on what is called "Gay Marriage". What does it mean for Christians and for Christian congregations? Why is this such an inflamatory issue? This article will stimulate your thinking.

Several Other Books and other Resources
"What Does the Bible Really Teach about Homosexuality?" - Kevin DeYoung, Crossway. DeYoung understands the issue and both sides of the questions and arguments surrounding it. He is comprehensive, straightforward, kind, and actually, quite easy to read. I highly recommend it. See it at Crossway, and their free downloadable study guide is here. I've also seen that WalMart has it for $7.38. Learn more at CBD or Amazon or buy it there.
The Secret Thoughts of an Unlikely Convert, an English professor’s journey into Christian faith” – Rosaria Champagne Butterfield, Crown & Covenant Publications. Dr. Butterfield is a former tenured professor at Syracuse University where she was also a practicing lesbian and gay activist. God called Rosaria to Himself in His way and in His time. A wonderful story that is told in a delightful style. She's a dedicated homeschooler too and some of you will love how she portrays that. I recommend you buy the expanded version. Videos and other resources available at http://rosariabutterfield.com. Also at CBD or Amazon including Kindle.
"Openness Unhindered. Further Thoughts of an Unlikely Convert on Sexual Identity and Union with Christ." – Rosaria Champagne Butterfield, Crown & Covenant Publications. She thinks deeply and her second book on the subject is more technical and a bit heavy at points, but still excellent if you persevere. Also at CBD and Amazon including Kindle.
"Culture Shock, A Biblical Response to Today's Most Divisive Issues," Chip Ingram, Baker. Ingram gives an excellent historical background to how we got into this mess and asks, "Do you engage or enrage?". Good stuff on human sexuality, homosexuality, abortion, the environment, politics and "Where Do We Go from Here?" More info and good prices at CBD and Amazon. Read a free transcript of the CD here.
"enGendered, God's Gift of Gender Difference in Relationship" - Sam A Andreades, Weaver. Aaaah, yes, definitely not a quick read and not focused overall on homosexuality. Quite deep and technical on the differences in gender; on how God intends them to complement each other; and how they are worked out in relationships. At Weaver, CBD or Amazon, including Kindle.
Finding Church, What if there really is something more? - Wayne Jacobsen, Trailview Media. When tough times come we'll only "stand" if our Christian identity is rooted in our relationship with God, instead of in the institutional church as so many now know it. A life-giving book! See info on this and other Jacobsen resources on this page.
YouTube: Search for "Franklin Graham, gay marriage" for his courageous messages.
