Words of Instruction, Comfort and Encouragement
 

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. II Tim. 3:16-17 (niv)

 

There is nothing more instructive, comforting or life-giving than God’s Words. We need to turn to them often if we expect to be equipped for difficult times. Jesus said, “The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you--they are full of the Spirit and life,” (John 6:63 niv). That is as true today as ever, and as we search the scriptures for instruction, encouragement and comfort we'll find these and more:

  II Samuel 22 – David’s song of praise - - and ours!
 
Psalm 2:1-6 - The nations conspire and plot in vain, and God scoffs at them!
 
Psalm 4:8 - It is in peace that I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Yahweh, make me safe and secure.(ulb)
 

Psalm 9:10 – Know Him, trust Him, He will not forsake us.

 
Psalm 16:11 - You teach me the path of life; abundant joy resides in your presence; delights abide in your right hand forever! (ulb)
 
Psalm 18:30-36 – God’s way is perfect - - - ; he shields all who take refuge in him.
 

Psa. 22:28 - God rules over the nations.

 
Psalm 23 - The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want. - - -
 

Psalm 25:12-16 – Fear God, and He will protect us.

 
Psalm 32:6-10 - I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you
 

Psalm 41:2 – God helps the helpless.

 
Psalm 46 - God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear. (niv) - - read it all!
 
Psalm 62:8 – Trust God, He is our refuge
 

Psalm 91:10-11 – God will give His angels charge over us

 

Psa. 103 - All, but especially v19, God rules - -

 
Psalm 119:105 - Your word is a lamp to my feet and light for my path. (ulb) Read the whole chapter!
 

Psalm 121 – God is our protector

 

Psa. 135:5-6 - God does whatever He pleases.

 
Prov. 3:5-6 - Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; - -
 

Prov. 19:21 - Man plans but God’s counsel rules!

 

Prov. 27:17 - As iron sharpens iron, - -

  Isaiah 26:3 - You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because - - (niv)
 

Isa. 14:24-27 - It will be as God has planned.

 

Isaiah 41:1-10 – All of it but especially v10!

 

Isa. 46:9-10 - God’s purpose will be established -

 

Isaiah 54:10 – The mountains might shake, but - -

  Isaiah 55 - Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him - - (So much good stuff!)
  Isaiah 60:1-3 is for those who believe the “Why - - if - - then” of Isa. 58:1-12
 
Jer. 9:23-25 - Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches; 24 but let him who boasts boast of this, - - (nasb)
 
Jer. 27:4-7 - God made the earth and He will give it to anyone He pleases - -
 
Jer. 29:13 - You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
 
Jer. 33:3 - Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things - -

II Thess. 2:16-17 - Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good confidence for the future through grace, 17 comfort and establish your hearts in every good work and word. (ulb)
 
Heb. 4:11-12 - For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any - - (niv)
  Heb. 4:14-16 - Jesus understands, He will help us!
 
Heb. 10:32-12:3 – Persevere - - as those who went before us and set an example!
 
James 5:7-11 - Be patient, the coming of the Lord is near.
 
I Peter 2:9 - A chosen race, a royal priesthood - - so that - -
 
I Peter 3:8-18 - v14, But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed.
 
I Peter 4:1-2 - since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude
 
I Peter 4:12-19 - Do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal - -
