Take me to the Beech 18 Main Page

Read my notes on Elaine's and my July 2005 trip to Canada, where we saw 16 different Twin Beech's on floats.

This table lists aircraft in Serial Number sequence. Photos are on two pages as indicated in the column on the right. Click on the link above for the desired page and scroll down to the aircraft you want to see. More to come soon!

I draw on Bob Parmerter’s incredible book, “Beech 18: A Civil & Military History,” and reference him by simply saying “Parmerter,” usually with a page number. You can buy it from the Beech Staggerwing Museum, and it is a “must have” for the Beech 18 aficionado.

SN Aircraft Details Page

Those with a four digit factory SN were built as C-18 series military aircraft. Beginning in 1952 MacDonald Brothers in Canada remanufactured 80 aircraft for the RCAF, and converted them to the D-18 series, Model 3T, including the longer nacelle. However, they did not change the SN, as Beech did with the C-45G and H's for the USAF, and the SNB-5 for the USN. The 3T is not approved in the Twin Beech A-765 Type Certificate Data Sheet but was widely used in Canada.

Those with a SN A-xxx were factory new D-18 series aircraft. The RCAF bought 280 copies, Beech SN A-601 to A-800, and A-851 to A-930 and they became 1951-53, 3N, 3NM and 3TM aircraft serials CA-1 through CA-280. (Parmerter, P206)
